Born in 1970 in Valence, FRANCE
Lives and works in St Louis, SENEGAL
He has now been living in Senegal for several years. He fell in love with the country and chose to stay.
His work, which is colourful, universal and timeless, is influenced by and linked to the environment in which he lives. He uses the materials he comes across in the street, often the refuse of our civilisation.
He transforms and sublimates them into works of art that become witnesses.
This is how he tells the story of his life, of our lives, by engraving on scraps of dugout canoes or metal drums, or by working on walls with a patina of age.
Like his illustrious predecessors, he offers his paintings to us, entrusting them to us by way of testimony and questioning.
Pierre ALEX
visual artist, self-taught
A keen traveller, he has worked on his art in many countries around the world for over 20 years. All these encounters and cultures have been decisive in his creations.
These are long expeditions into the wilderness, crossing small villages, where the exchange with man, with human beings, with those who live elsewhere and differently, makes sense.
